About Your Coach, Mikayla
Hi there! My name is Mikayla and I created Scribe and Fly with one goal in mind: to offer a space where you can be fully seen, fully heard, and fully you. This is a space where no thought is too much, no fear too heavy, and no dream too big. Whether you're navigating burnout, chasing a calling, or just trying to make sense of where you are, you're welcome here - as you are, not as the world expects you to be.
My approach to coaching is holistic and grounded; we’ll look at all the pieces of your life - emotional, mental, relational, creative, spiritual - and gently bring them into alignment so you can grow in a way that feels true to you. As Fourth Wing reminds us, “We don’t get to choose if we get hurt in this life, but we do get to choose who we become because of it.” Dumbledore reminds us, “It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live” - so here, we’ll hold space for both. You don’t have to figure it all out alone. This is your journey, and I’m honored to walk alongside you.
My Journey
From a young age, I had always known I wanted to be a helper to others. It wasn’t until my time in high school that I had known that being a therapist was my calling. That calling was solidified after experiencing the mass shooting in my hometown of Parkland. Living through such a traumatic event showed me firsthand how deeply experiences can impact a person - mentally, physically, and emotionally. I later moved from South Florida to Tallahassee, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Florida State University. After graduation, I took a gap year to work as a Registered Behavioral Technician. During that time, I began to reflect on my career path. I knew there was more out there for me, I just hadn’t discovered it yet.
I was then accepted into Jacksonville University program of Clinical Mental Health Counseling and gained my master’s degree in this field. While attending school, I was also working full time as a psychometrist - taking part in neurological testing of individuals while still creating a space.
Throughout my education in practicing therapy, life coaching was an avenue I had not really thought about, until now. As a military spouse, pursuing a therapy license proved difficult with the constant uncertainty of relocation. That unpredictability led me to explore life coaching, and it opened a door I hadn’t expected.
Combining my clinical background with my passion for wellness and fitness, I discovered that life coaching was exactly where I belonged. I don't view people as defined solely by their current struggles - I see them through the lens of their lived experiences. By reflecting on the past together, we can better understand your present and begin to shape a future that feels aligned and meaningful.
There is more to life than just emotion and that’s where my work begins. My goal is to help you discover what truly matters to you, and to walk alongside you as you navigate life’s challenges with clarity, purpose, and support.
My Approach to Coaching
At Scribe and Fly, I believe meaningful, lasting change comes when we work with the whole person - mind, body, heart, and spirit. Rather than focusing only on surface-level goals or quick fixes, I walk alongside you as we explore the deeper patterns, emotions, and experiences that shape your everyday life.
Here’s what that looks like in practice:
Mindfulness
We use gentle mindfulness practices to slow down and become more present.
Mindfulness helps you develop awareness of your thoughts, feelings, and body cues without judgment.
This allows us to access deeper clarity and reduce reactivity, anxiety, and overwhelm.
You’ll learn how to respond to life’s challenges with more intention, not just reaction.
Empathy and Compassion
You’ll be fully seen and heard in this space — no fixing, no pressure, just genuine presence.
Empathy means I hold space for your experience, meeting you where you are, not where you "should" be.
We’ll work at a pace that feels safe and supportive, grounded in mutual respect and understanding.
I offer compassion not only as a practice toward others, but toward yourself.
We’ll explore your inner dialogue and gently shift away from self-criticism and toward self-acceptance.
This helps build emotional safety and confidence as you move through discomfort and growth.
Emotion-Focused Work
Emotions are messages, not problems to fix — we work with them, not against them.
We’ll explore the emotions beneath your patterns, behaviors, and choices to better understand what needs support.
You’ll learn how to name, feel, and process emotions instead of suppressing or avoiding them.
This often leads to deep clarity, healing, and more authentic self-expression.
Somatic Awareness
Our bodies hold stories — tension, fatigue, gut feelings, and trauma responses all offer insight.
Through simple somatic tools (like grounding, breath, posture, movement, or noticing sensation), we reconnect with the body’s wisdom.
This helps build regulation, presence, and trust in your internal guidance system.
Somatic work is especially helpful if you’ve felt disconnected from your body, burned out, or overwhelmed.
This holistic blend supports you not just in reaching goals, but in becoming someone who feels grounded, clear, and deeply connected to themselves. Whether you're working through change, uncertainty, or just trying to feel more like yourself again -we’ll meet it all with compassion, curiosity, and care.
“Mikayla has genuinely changed the trajectory of my life and given me hope, confidence, and happiness again. She is the best of the best.”
